It is an amazing scene when searching for water, a leopard gets its head st*uck in a metal pot. In the Rajasthan district of Rajsamand, the animal was hun*ting for food near the Indian village of Sardul Kheda. Until someone from the local forestry commission arrived and shot it with a tranquiliser dart, locals took photographs and videoed the unfortunate be*ast. Before it was eventually freed, the animal’s ordeal lasted for approximately five hours.
District Forest Officer Kapil Chandrawal said, ‘The sub-adult panther, aged about 3 years, wiggled a lot and made efforts to get his head out but all attempts failed. On receiving information by locals, our team reached the place and shifted him to an enclosure where it was tranquilised and his head was freed. After the leopard is fully recovered, he will be set free in a dense forest area.’ Mr Chandrawal said the animal had probably strayed from a sanctuary area some 20km from the village.
In the video the animal can be seen struggling a lot to get it’s head out of the pot. The animal was wondering the village because it was hungry. Later it kept it’s head inside a pot to drink some water. That is when the unfortunate animal got it’s head stuck in it. The animal can be seen scared. The villagers on the other hand are not frightened since it is not able to attack or do anything anymore. The animal is getting weak and is also getting over heated. In such harsh cases an animal can die in hours but fortunately the animal was rescued and was set free in the wild.
